![]() We had reservations and were promptly seated. My wife and I drove for over an hour to eat her birthday dinner at Vine Bistro on September 30, 2019. If you visit North Myrtle Beach and want a great dining experience, you’ll not be disappointed at Chestnut Hill. We topped it off with a slice of authentic Key-Lime pie that was out of this world! Chestnut Hill isn’t inexpensive, but it’s definitely worth every penny of the cost. I couldn’t decide between the fresh Flounder or the 12oz Angus Ribeye - so the waiter found a way to give me both! The Flounder was tender and flaky and the Ribeye grilled to a perfect medium-rare was flavorful and fork-tender. For the main event, my wife had the Salmon Shrimp Provencale - grilled Salmon with a Shrimp Scampi sauce served over Mushroom & Spinach Ravioli. The dressing took the fresh salad ingredients to another level. Next was a garden salad with the most scrumptious house made Honey-Lime dressing. The sherry came thru without overpowering the delicate she-crab. For an appetizer we got the She-Crab & Sherry Soup. They started us off with fresh-baked Cheesy Biscuits and Blueberry Mini-Muffins that melted in our mouths. I seldom offer five stars for a restaurant unless the experience was truly exceptional, and Chestnut Hill was every bit exceptional! The restaurant is nestled beside a pond with an elegant dining room and a great view of the water. The staffing issue is everywhere because of the pandemic, but there is no excuse for such poor food quality. But, like many Myrtle Beach restaurants, this one was great in initial quality but has gone downhill. Overall, quite sad because the last time we tried Tin Roof a couple years ago for lunch, the experience was terrific. A third person in our party said his tacos were not the best but I don't have a full description from him as he spent the rest of the evening in the bathroom. The $3.25 side of crinkle fries ($3 on the menu) was small enough to fit in a coffee cup. One of the chicken tenders ($6 on the menu, charged $7) was the size of a McNugget. The burger was the size of a slider and was $11.25 ($11 on the menu). When drinks arrived, mine was completely something other than what I ordered. When ordering our drinks we were told the draft beer equipment was down, and they were out of some ingredients to make their signature drinks highlighted on the menu. There was a manager-type person who kept going around asking if everything was OK. That would have also been for the view and atmosphere.ĭespite what appeared to be a lot of employees standing around, there seemed to be only two waitress working the entire dining area. If not for our exceptional server Bonnie, I would have given 1 star.
